back blog

from monday, running at home + i logged 2 miles (for a total of 4.5) on the track just before the 1 mile marker on the route. it sure was a nice day out and it sure was nice to not run in the city. i forgot what grass running is like! wish i'd had time to do more runs at home, but i should this weekend when i am back.

it is GORGEOUS out. ran a funny loop around penn's landing for a total of 4.5 miles, just so damn pretty out, i love it. cheers for spring break.

spring break has sprung!

did the normal art museum route after getting a late start this morning. damn pitcher game :) felt incredibly slow but looking at an estimate of my time and how much i ran, i don't think i was quite as slow as i felt, so that's a plus. all my muscles tighten up real fast though, esp my right quad and i'm not sure why. at the turnback point i walked up to the bridge and back to watch a few of the rowers, and it immediately tightened up when i began running again, which again went away after a minute or so of running. weird.
anyway, it was drizzly during the run, i loved it. brought me back to the days of cc, when we used to run in almost anything. so fun.

did another 45 on the bike watching grey's, tried to push it like i know he'd be proud. crunches and pushups ensued.

antm

34 min paced, did 4.5 miles in it. didn't recheck cara/lainie's plan, so i did it kinda wrong - did it in 3 sets of 1.5 miles for each pace, 8, 7, 7:30 min miles. felt good, pushed through it... slept a lot today, that was a nice change.

art show

this sounds complicated to write, but hal seems to explain it better than me anyway. he's the professional...
4x800 at 7 min mile pace with a quarter mile in between at a slow run, all in all for a total of 4 miles in 30:45 at a 0.5% incline. hehe, that puts me directly over the susquehanna river.
going to see jefferson's art collection with the pma's docent tonight with bakery goods - great art and yummy desserts, this is my kind of night :)

looks like someone's got a case of the mondays

since i ran a grand total of 5 miles last week, i stepped it back up today. did 5 in 39 min at 0.5% incline. felt good, so i went for a half hour on the bike watching another episode of grey's. i can't believe how much easier it makes the biking, maybe it's the lack of commercials...but i'm gonna be sad when i'm through the season and will have to find something else to keep me occupied. but on a brighter note, the two laura's invited me to go biking with them, so i'm excited/nervous for that... should be fun! when it gets warmer at least, they are some brave souls!

motivation lost

as evidenced by lack of workouts, first due to sheer business and choosing studying over running- this weekend got away from me, i was just so tired, so all i got in was a 45 min bike ride while watching grey's anatomy, season 1. it was excellent but has successfully scared the crap out of me for when i start internship. forget that, when i start 3rd year even. but i still firmly believe that it WILL be better than this year :o)

i made a new friend in my class and she told me about this, which she's already signed up for. i know it's right after our vacation and right before my rotations start (can you say jet lagged AND sore?), but still, it sounds great. let me know if there is interest!!

4 miles around penn's landing. felt like i just wanted to walk and enjoy the day, but motored thru it anyway. still feel much slower and less energy on the street than i do the treadmill, but i'm sure that's to be expected. hopefully that will change soon!

soooo ready for spring break

3 mi at 0.5% at 7.6 mph + strength, just as hal told me to do. feeling a little down today, meaning that all i felt like doing was studying. good for the grades i suppose! tomorrow i get to go to amazon for a smoothie and barnes and nobles - i'm looking forward to that!

5 miler today, went up to boathouse row and back. it was a bit windy, but the weather was perfect and the river was really pretty. felt alright, way different than a treadmill, but it was kinda nice to put a (small) hill in here and there!

Paced 3 miles on the easier treadmill (i swear it really is) b/c it's closer, meaning i would miss less of America's Next Top Model marathon. yes, that's how i based my workout, and yes i realize it's a bit sad :) anyway, 3 in about 22:15.

tgif

strength + 3 miles. just some light arms - biceps/back, the gym has lost some machines, to put it kindly, and i dont' really remember how to lift on a limited budget, kind of embarrassing! also i've been craving nothing but baked doritoes, bugles, and girl scout ice cream, and have succumbed to the cravings. which is fine in and of itself, except that after i'm done, i'm not hungry for healthy stuff. at least i finished the doritoes, so that makes room for more healthy options.

only tuesday

exhausted as crap, but hoped that the natural high from running would get me over the afternoon hump of 2pm sleepiness, which naturally occurred during another boring-ass small group. successful during workout, but eyeing up my comfy looking sofa currently just beyond my left shoulder. it's an every day battle.
anyway, to log in my miles today, i did 3/4 warmup, 6x400 in 1:45 with about a 200 slow run in between each. warmed down with another 3/4 for an even (almost) 4.
